Words lose meaning, sometimes fading overtime and sometimes overnight due to a fundamental shift in perception. The world has redefined the term ‘radical’. We’ve been rewired to deem certain actions acceptable so long as they are carried out by government.
Not sure when this happened or what brought the change about, but I’m willing to bet my reputation that the economic and psychological impact of prolonged recessions, countless government corruption and endless global wars constantly streamed on all technological platforms, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week has had some irreversible impact.
Today, we believe it to be immoral to keep the fruits of your labor and responsible to allow government to steal from our neighbors for the supposed good of man, regardless of how detrimental such actions are to our social fabric or how mathematically impossible they are in terms of economic viability. We don’t think, we only repeat.
Government is constantly pushing the limits of morality by convincing the citizenry to allow their actions to be justified, either through guilt or through fear, as always. The tools haven’t changed, the only thing that has is the limits of their power to destroy and consume, both economically and physically.
Today, war was declared via social media. Israel posted, on a twitter account, pictures and videos of drone strikes. This is the New Normal. Killing and war are the new normal.
The only people we consider radical today are those that oppose wars and government oppression. We consider these people to be naive and the thought of peace to be foolish but we accept the ideology that war common place and find it acceptable for governments to assassinate people without Due Process.
The future of human civilization is determined by how we presently judge our actions and what we deem as acceptable behavior going forward. If we continue to live in a society where we must eliminate our fellow man to better serve our own needs, we will eventually reach a point where we, too, must be eliminated to serve the needs of another and we will have to accept this fate for ourselves given that it’s no different than the fate that we served to others.
We are justifying our own demise under the false belief that our actions will spread peace and increase prosperity. We’ve licensed destruction as the new face of progress and redefined radicalism as the new name for peace.
