Armenians who think protest and letter-writing are going to get the president to acknowledge that another country killed it’s own citizens 100 years ago. The president won’t even acknowledge that he’s killed citizens of his own country.
These are Caucasian Mountain Shepherds
- They can weigh up to 200 pounds
- They are used in Russian prisons
- They have the stopping force of a .45 caliber bullet
Remind me never to get arrested in Russia.
Can someone get me one?
people also use them to guard their kids.
ngl i want one.
Caucasian Ovcharkas (Armenian Khobuns) are awesome dogs. The Georgian Nagazi is the biggest of the family. They are monsters. I think I want to get one now.
Yerevan, Armenia is currently a police state while the people and the government try to sort out who legally won the presidency and who will actually take power of the government.
Fun times.
There’s a revolution going down in Yerevan right now. Sort of.
My uncle is friends with Raffi Hovannisian, the man who supposedly won the election but was cheated out by the incumbent, Serzh Sargsyan. I’ve been told he is the Ron Paul of Armenia, but I don’t personally know anything else about him. I really don’t care who wins because Armenia has gigantic issues that probably won’t be solved within the next decade, but the situation is interesting to monitor for a few reasons.
Armenia received a lot of US funds over the past few years for a lot of reasons. Armenia is the only democratic christian state in the region and has a common boarder with Iran. The US built, what was at the time, the largest US embassy in the world in Yerevan. The US gave Armenia even more money in order to establish some comity with the Armenian legal system and for Armenia to begin extraditing felons who fled America for a safe haven in Armenia. Recently, the US came out in full support of Serzh’s re-election and they seem pretty set on supporting his administration for many reasons, including those listed above.
Personally, it really makes no difference to me but I’m interested because it’s pretty sad and pathetic that Armenians are fighting other Armenians, especially on the eve of the Armenian Genocide memorial coming up this month and also one of the companies I work for has been investing a ton of money in that country and instability isn’t exactly a welcomes site.
A lot of the political infighting stems around which super power people prefer to associate with or which Armenian conglomerate business owner the politician is friends with. If you think Corporatism is a major issue in America, Armenia is the flawless, if you can call it flawless, example of Corporatism at it’s peak. If you want to know what the future of American politics might look like, look to the situation in Armenia.
The news has probably completely ignored the situation but it’s pretty important as far as American Foreign Policy is concerned. I hate to say it, but I think the US might step in, especially if they see their man, Serzh, losing power and they see Raffi take office.

Random Fact: And this one might be the most random, but all this Pope talk today so this relates: My dad’s cousin is the Archbishop of the Armenian Apostolic Church of the Great House of Cilicia, which is the secondary See of the church.
The Armenian church is the oldest nationally adopted and recognized church in history, dating back to 301 AD.
That makes my dad’s cousin the 4th most powerful man in the oldest church system on the planet. He also presided over my wedding, which was cool of him to do.
I personally don’t care for religion but this guy does great things for the community and might one day be the Catholicos of both of the Armenian Sees, which would be pretty cool to see.

The ancient Egyptians were black
Egypt is in Africa
Christianity was forced upon the Africans during slavery to “keep slaves in line”
Whites want to make Africa look bad so they can take it over
Africa is a BLACK continent
Although a large portion of Egypt is in Africa,…
>ancient Egyptians were black
oooooooooh boy good luck telling that to the average Egyptian.
The average Egyptian is not the ancient Egyptian . Ignorance is bliss!!!
The Egyptians were as black as the Romans were white. Ancient Egyptian civilization, culture, political structure, and religion all have roots in the areas of the Fertile Crescent, which were an Arab area. It was primarily through early Arab Imperialism that most of Northern Africa is Arabic today.
^ This. Let us not forget that some of the Pharaohs during the THREE THOUSAND YEAR dynastic structure were actually Nubians from upstream of the Nile in what is now Ethiopia. Not to mention that, as an empire, Egypt featured a variety of complexions, as most imperial powers tend to do once they begin mixing cultures through conquest and influence.
Some rulers were purported to be fair skinned, redheads, still others were “golden” and others still were, as I mentioned, jet-black Nubians. There is no one-true-face of Egypt any more than there is one-true-face of of a multiethnic society.
Also important to note that many Queens or Pharaohs came from the Middle East or Caucus regions as tribes or sects of people would inter-marry as to “keep the peace” among different empires.
For example, it is believed that Nefertiti is of Armenian decent. She was of the Mitanni tribe, the origin of the Armenian people.
besides, in the grand scheme of things, we are all African…
sugashane reblogged your link: Barack Obama’s Track Record of Armenian Genocide Recognition
Sadly all of my friends and family, and even I, believed him at the time. He was calling out names all the wayI’ll definitely read that link you provided sometime this afternoon and share a more detailed response with you, but in short: yes, I agree that it won’t necessarily DO anything for the Armenian people if a US president acknowledges their suffering as genocide. But to me, this is an issue that illuminates the bullshit that government runs on.
Millions suffered and/or died at the hands of a government. It should be a no-brainer that people around the world would acknowledge it for what it was. But in the name of political expediency, our government has refused to do that. If our government is willing to more or less publicly deny that a genocide occurred in which millions suffered, all in the name of political ends, why should we EVER think they have our best interests in mind? It’s just asinine to think they give a fuck about human beings.
Is it really a shock that an imperialistic country (USA) who systematically kills (drone strikes) millions of people based on a race or religious belief (Muslims) under the guise of safety (terrorism) but in reality for both power and profit (oil, strategic land occupation) would refuse to call out another imperialistic country (Ottoman Empire) who systematically kills (death marches, execution, starvation) millions of people based on a race or religious belief (Armenian, non-Turkish) under the guise of safety (Economic blame) but in reality for both power and profit (control of industries, strategic land occupation).
It would be one hell of a hypocritical move for America to call out the Turks.
I wrote a pretty lengthy article about Barack Obama’s refusal to acknowledge the Armenian genocide on my old blog, but I can’t seem to find it right now. Here’s a link to a PDF from the Armenian National Committee of America detailing the MANY, MANY times he said he would recognize the genocide for what it was before he became President. Since his election, he’s been mum, and even expressly refused to follow through on that promise.
Just one example of how Obama is okay with throwing entire groups of people under the bus in the name of foreign interests, e.g., appeasing Turkey— who allows us to use their country to wreak havoc on the Middle East. An entire race of people almost decimated by a government, and now our government is refusing to acknowledge the event to appease another government so that we can then go in a topple other governments still. Does anybody else agree that this is completely fucked up?
Sadly all of my friends and family, and even I, believed him at the time. He was calling out names all the way to the White House and it actually got him elected. Why would we think he’d flip on all of his promises (probably because he’s a politicians)?
Anyway, I came to the realization about 3 years ago that no American President will acknowledge the Genocide until Armenia has something valuable to offer them.
I also don’t care if they do.
What does that do for Armenians? Nothing. Just like France’s recognition did nothing. And then they made it illegal to slander and speak of the genocide as if it never happened, set aside the fact that this is a violation of free speech, it did nothing for us again. Actually, it did do something, it angered the Turks even more.
The only acknowledgment of the Armenian (and Assyrian, Greek and Kurdish) Genocide I seek is one from the Turkish Gov’t.
I encourage all Armenians to befriend Turkish people and realize that they are humans and they only know as much as their gov’t allows them to know. Most have been told for their entire life that the genocide is either a myth or that the reality is that Armenians slaughtered Turks. This is not their fault and we must stop hating them as if it is.
Many Turks over the years have come out and risked their lives to write articles, books and lead protests in Turkey to acknowledge the events and the gov’t has deported them, banned and burned their books and even assassinated them. The people of Turkey are just as much victims of their gov’t as my people were 100 years ago.
Here’s the rest of my thoughts on Armenian-Turkish relations and how the Armenian people need to change their own mindset to get the ball moving. http://sugashane.tumblr.com/post/21721455097/r-i-p-to-all-the-armenians-assyrians-greeks-and
The mathematical genius of the Armenian alphabet.
The Armenian Alphabet is a miracle. Here are the names of some chemical elements. The interesting fact is that each one of the Armenian alphabetic letters represent a numerical value. Now the sum of the numerical values of letters used to write the name of each element equals the Atomic Number of that element.
The numerical values assigned to each letter is nothing more than their placement within the language. Similarly, in English, the letter ‘A’ would be 1, ‘B’ would be 2 and so on.
Armenian is also a phonetic language that is easy to learn. Here’s more on the Armenian language.
