Asteroid 2012 DA14 – Earth Flyby to Safely Pass Earth
Asteroid 2012 DA14 is a small near-Earth object – approximately 150 feet (45 meters) in diameter. On Feb. 15, 2013, the asteroid will pass by our planet at a remarkably close distance, but the asteroid’s path is understood well enough that there is no chance of a collision with the Earth. The flyby will be the closest known approach to Earth for an object its size.
DA14 will be only about 17,200 miles (27,700 kilometers) above Earth’s surface at the time of closest approach on Feb 15, 2013. This distance is well outside Earth’s atmosphere, but it is inside the belt of satellites in geostationary orbit, which is located 22,200 miles (35,800 kilometers) above Earth’s surface. The close-approach distance is only about one-tenth the distance between Earth and moon.
The NASA JPL Live webcast of 2012 DA14’s approach is streaming here.
Earth: More mysterious, unfathomable and beautiful than any Sci-Fi movie, ever.
I still don’t understand how some people deny climate change.

Does anyone else realize how incredible of a time we are living in?
Practically the entire planet, every corner and certainly every civilized continent is a midst protect, culture change, revolution and questioning. Questioning our existence, questioning our actions, questioning authority and questioning our destiny.
Yet, it seems as if no one is appreciating the beauty of the chaos we live in. We are seeing a time of civil unrest and conscious awakening that’s greater than the revolutionary era of 1776 to 1799 that saw both the American Revolution and the French Revolution.
The last few years has brought us the Arab Spring, the global Occupy movement, Wikileaks, the dissent and move to third and even fourth parties both here in America and abroad. We are seeing the weakening of political unions and the strengthening of localized, accessible government and even the promotion of self governance. The rise of Voluntaryism. The belief that voluntary interaction is not only better, but best.
The entire world is changing, at once. There is a global alignment of thought without coercion.
This isn’t the new world order that conspiracy theorists have feared for decades, this is the new world order that humanity has desperately seeking for millennia.
NASA recently released imagery showing the deforestation of America …in just 34 years.
We are killing the Earth
Forever reblog.
wtf why have I never this before.
Faith in humanity lost, AGAIN.
It’s not “humanity” that causes this. If it were, those who claim to rightfully hate or distrust humanity are equally to blame as those that do the ruining. Ban together and salvage what is still an abundant, resourceful planet or expect to be so disappointed you won’t even see a point in saying you’re disappointed.
The first photo was taken in 2001, not 1978 and was taken in summer when trees have more foliage. The second image was taken on January 4th 2012, in the middle of winter when deciduous trees lose their leaves.
The “1978” photo has also been altered, here is the original in comparison.
But why does the north american continent look larger in the second image? two perspectives, of course, but which?
All of you are fucking idiots. North America not only lost all it’s trees and grass and lakes and rivers and snow, but it grew to 3 times it’s original size and then shifted to the North. Yeah, okay.
I feel like everyone who’s reblogged this is of the same genetic fucktardery that also got Obama elected. They see pictures, don’t look into facts or question clearly bullshit “facts” and they think they’re saving the world.
KONY 2012, mother fuckers!
