ShortFormBlog: Re: Platinum Coin, Pointing out a fact is incorrect ≠ Supporting something
antigovernmentextremist says: Short Form Blog. I’m disappointed. I expected so much better from you. The fact that this is even considered a viable option shows just how far off the handle America is.
» SFB says: I’m not actually in favor of the platinum coin — it’s a weird, crazy idea…
I guess the “fact” you point out is what I’m disappointed about.
Precious metals like platinum or gold get their value from what people ascribe to them. Government fiat currency take their value from government decree. A platinum coin would only have the value of $1 trillion if others recognize its value. Therefor, it would need to be made up of X amount of platinum.
Right now, an ounce of gold costs about $50 more than an ounce of platinum. So why not make this trillion dollar coin out of gold?
Because the whole idea is a load of malarkey. It’s purely symbolic. It’s about as equivalent as taking a pizza box, writing a bunch of zeros on it and taking it to the bank to deposit it in your checking account. They chose platinum because the ignorant masses they’re feeding this to don’t know the difference. It sounds fancy and valuable when it really is just as worthless as the rest of the fake money our economy is being propped up with.
It looks like I unfollowed SFB just in time. They’ve fallen way off.
I unfollowed shortformblog today.
I follow all sorts of tumblrs. From leftists, to socialists to statists to anarchists. I don’t really discriminate because I like the information and the differing views, but shortformblog has lost me as a follower.
They seem to be less interested in unbiased news as of late and more into pop culture and pro-statist opinions. It’s like a mini-CNN.
What ever happened to just delivering the news with as little of your own personal opinion drizzled on top?
